So far so good. I have successfully run 12 days in a row with 18 days to go. Still record breaking but it hasn’t been without its challenges. You would think that at age 25 my body should still be able to handle the stresses of consecutive runs. I currently have achy knees, a blister inconveniently placed on the bottom of my foot, the bones in my feet have started to crack and pop even more than usual, my back has a constant dull pain (also cracking and popping more than usual), and I have a slight case of shin splints. Damn I am getting old.
Last night was a pivotal point in this little endeavor of mine. It was about 9:30pm and I had been working all day, I had a mad stomach ache, and we still hadn’t eaten dinner. I reminded myself that the challenge is to simply run 30 days in a row. With that in mind, I bolted out the door and ran for exactly eleven minutes and six seconds. It still counts.
The boyfriend and I have a goal to run 5 miles in 40 minutes. I think we can do it (today we ran 4 in 32 minutes). I am hoping that at the end of my 30 days he will decide to do something similar. It would only help in keeping this running streak going.
